24. Will It Blend?

Is Blendtec’s “will it blend” videos the most successful viral video ad campaign of all time? It could be, with many of its videos nearing 10 million views on YouTube its hard to say no.  The videos, which resembles David Letterman’s segment “will it float?”, features a man attempting to blend popular consumer products. After the videos, Blendtec’s mainly B2B business grew a residential consumer base.  

Whether “will it blend?” is or isn’t the most successful viral ad of all time, it makes the advantages of viral video advertising clear. It has low production costs and it can reach a huge audience very quickly. Viral ads are yet another new reason that advertising agencies need to get in the digital realm.
